Sophie and Sutton have been swimming the summer away! Sutton has been a little fish just like previous summers. His big accomplishment is jumping in the pool and diving down to the bottom. He wanted to be able to swim along the bottom like Daddy!! He is on his way. One day he was jumping in and grabbing our feet and tickling us. He has also picked up some diving toys off the bottom all by himself.
His newest entertainment is making funny faces and poses while sliding and jumping in. I told him he needs to practice in front of a mirror so he can see his faces!! (Reminds me of Cousin Hope posing for pictures for me last summer, Aunt Meggie. Remember her with her new school shirts!!?)
Sophie started out our pool season refusing to swim, she would only splash....her words! She would only stay on the steps and island/sun deck! She didn't want anything to do with actual swimming. We let her do what was comfortable. After our lake trip a few weeks ago, where she swam in the lake, she came home and decided to swim at home! First she started jumping in but always holding onto the island, Then she just got more and more brave, jumping in with a floatie, swimming ALL around with the floatie, swimming without a floatie, floating on her back, going down the slide. Then today, she swam across the ENTIRE pool (the longest distance possible) without a floatie, and floated on her back 3 times. The only thing we need to work on is swimming with her face In the water. She does sometimes, but not much. It is also amazing how well she treads water. She is a fish

This slide looks scarier in the pic than it did in real life!!!
