Sophie Got Glasses

 Several weeks ago, we started noticing that one of Sophie's eyes would cross slightly!  Over time, it seemed to happen more often. I called her pediatrician and asked for advice and/or a referral.  The doctor called us back and wanted us to go directly to a pediatric ophthalmologist.  We got an appointment for the next week.  The doctor was wonderful and very fast.  He dilated Sophie's eyes and then checked them!  Apparently the little girl couldn't see very well.  Everything the doctor said is a bit of a blurr.  He said something about most children have a deviation of "1" in there eyes.  Sophie had a 5 in one eye and a 5.5 in the other.  He said Sophie needed glasses!  Her glasses came in a week later, and Sophie was GREAT from the first time she put them on! The optometrist said that she wished all kids were that good!  Sophie has continued to do great ever since!  She's ready to put them on after she wakes and put them off when she goes to bed.  She will take them off in the car sometimes and they get VERY filthy, a lot!  Oh, and they usually do get thrown when she is on the floor crying and screaming!!!

At first she hadn't figured out how to rub her eyes!  Now she puts her little fingers behind the lenses!!

Getting ready for a bath, and checking out the water!  Her frames don't have any hinges, so she has to have a strap on the back to hold them on!  I was worried that it would "mess up" her hair, but it goes under all of her hair!  (You know, I was worried about the BIG stuff!!!)
