Hana isn't the only place to have black sand beaches in Maui. We found one very near Kristen's home! Kristen, Sutton and I went to visit it on Wednesday. It was so different than what you are used to seeing, and you could see all the different colors of sand mixed together. It was actually black, red and brown/white....but mostly black. When you first see it, you almost think it's a little ugly...it looks kind of muddy. But once you are on it, you REALLY see the beauty!

Oneuli Beach (Black Sand Beach) with
Pu'u Ola'i (Earthquake Hill) in the background
It was where the last violent volcanic eruption was on Maui, before it became dormant!

Sutton taking another try at playing in the surf!

Sutton's reaction to the water...get me out of here!!!
I don't think he's a beach baby yet!

Playing in the surf with Sutton

Big Beach, is on the other side of Earthquake Hill.

Sutton kept a close eye on the waves even when we weren't making him be in the water!

Your feet don't look quite as clean after being in black sand!!!
