Announcing....Sara Elizabeth Designs

I am so excited to share some BIG news with all of you. I am opening my own store on etsy.com....Sara Elizabeth Designs. I will be selling clothing (mostly baby and toddler girl), and accessories that I sew myself. Of course I have the option to expand whenever I choose, and I'm on the lookout for some great boy items!!

A lot of you know that I began sewing when I took home ec in the 7th and 8th grade! I loved sewing from the very beginning! In the 9th grade I saved up my money and bought a sewing machine that was on clearance. It was one of the best investments I've made, and I still use that machine today! I didn't take another sewing class until my senior year in high school. During that time, I made all sorts of dresses for my sisters and I....Easter, prom, and other formals. It was trial and error with a lot of ripped out seams! I learned a lot (I'm still learning), and it was a way for me to really relax. I love watching the flat piece of fabric turn into something to wear or decorate my home! I just love the whole process.

I've had several friends and family tell me over the years that I need to sell my work, but I never had the confidence in my work. You know when you make something yourself, you can focus on all the little mistakes. That's what I used to do, and I was afraid everyone else would too! Well, I've changed my attitude! I choose to believe that others will see all the love, care and detail I put into the things that I sew. I truly do give my work 100%.

Two of the dresses that are in my store, were first made for two very dear friends. They were/are pregnant with baby girls! It was so fun to sew them knowing that their sweet little girls would wear them one day. When they opened them at their baby shower, well, I was overwhelmed with the response! My friends and the other guests LOVED them, and let me know how much they liked them. (and I got an order for one more while at the shower!) It was humbling, to say the least, and gave me a little extra confidence to really get busy!

Well, I have been busy. Enjoy the pictures of some of the items I have in my store! I'll be adding more as I make them!

I also want to take the opportunity to thank some very special ladies in my life that have taught and inspired me in my sewing journey.
Mrs. Boyers....my 7th and 8th grade Home Ec. teacher
Dorothy Buck: she made such great things and taught me many sewing "tricks". I fondly remember many LONG talks about sewing!
Paula McDaniel: I babysat her little girls, and I was constantly amazed with the beautiful creations she would make for Meg, Maddie and Mackenzie! We still share sewing ideas and tips!
Jessa Carreon: A wonderful friend that I met while living in Austin. Jessa is a interior designer and an amazing seamstress! Jessa showed me that it doesn't have to be perfect! She also showed me how to use unconventional things for decorating!
My Mom and my Sisters: for buying lots of fabric (especially when we were younger) and trusting me to make many of your dresses when I didn't always know what I was doing!!! They trusted me with prom dresses, dance dresses and bridesmaid dresses!!!
