I've been painting more cabinets. HOW many can a house have!!! They all looks SO pretty when you are looking at houses. They aren't so pretty when you are sanding, priming and painting them. BUT...when you are done with the sanding, priming and painting...they look so BEAUTIFUL!!! Well, at least I think so!
Here is a before picture of the sitting area and fireplace off the kitchen. It is from when we were still "shopping" for houses. So this isn't any of our stuff! I'm convinced she had a decorator come in and decorate the whole house! I didn't like the pinkish undertones of the wood with the yellowish undertones of the paint.
Here is the after! It really makes the paint job look so much better, the picture doesn't do it justice. Now it REALLY makes the tile stand out. I think I see another project in my future!!!
I bought these OLD window frames off craigslist. They are supposed to be REALLY old, but who knows. The guy I bought them from was VERY careful and LOVED them. He had stripped all the paint off...etc...etc....and done all this other stuff to them. As I was painting it blue, I kept thinking how the guy would have a heart attack if he knew what I was doing to his window!!!
The other bookshelf. I just put scrapbook paper on the back. I used some with red and blue to tie in the colors from the kitchen and the furniture! This idea was courtesy of "The Nester"!!
The kitchen...after.
I also painted the table. It was one of my in-law's first tables! It still has years of good use!
The wood floors look even prettier now because there aren't three colors of brown competing with each other from the walls, cabinets, and floors!
After....
I was afraid all the black would make the room look dark and depressing, but it really doesn't! (I don't think!)
This is our old front door. It was really pretty with all the light it let it, but then EVERYONE could see in!!! Several times I was walking by and there was the mailman or UPS man. It was always a little surprising! Plus they were a smaller sized door with a fixed post in the middle. We could barely get the furniture in when we moved in!

Here is the new door...ok we had someone else install it, but I should get an award for all the hoops I had to jump through to make this happen. It looks like a simple front door.....but believe me, IT WAS NOT!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
