We also celebrated Chris' birthday on Saturday. Our friend, Cara, babysat Sutton while we went out to dinner and to see a movie. Cara was AWESOME with him, and I didn't worry at all, (well maybe just a smidge). She reported that he was an angel and totally adorable. Thanks Cara, we'll be calling you again!
Here are a couple of pictures from today. He has on his first little pair of shoes! (thanks to his cousins James and Ethan.)
My friend, Anjie (who is also the new Mom of 1 month old Emma Grace) put 10 things she has learned in the month since Emma was born, on her blog. It made me think, what ARE some of the things that I learned.... So Anjie I'm borrowing your idea. Here are 10, even though I know there are a million more!
1. I had no idea I could be more emotional than I was when pregnant. I am MORE than crying at the drop of a hat....but it is usually for happy reasons!
2. As much as EVERYONE knows how much I LOVE sleep, I've learned that I can live without as much of it!
3. I have really learned what having FAITH and TRUSTING in God is. I can do everything humanly possible to keep Sutton safe, but ultimately he is in God's hand...and there isn't a better place to be.
4. I have learned, even more, how it is a CHOICE to be kind and caring to each other. When you're tired and grouchy, it's so easy to snap at each other! Sorry for the times I've been snappy with you, Chris. (and anyone else)
5. I can't believe how much stuff I can get done when Sutton is taking a nap or happily swinging in his swing.
6. I think I actually keep the house cleaner than before he was born. (you might want to ask Chris' opinion on that, he may not agree :):)
7. I am amazed at how both Chris and I can sit around and stare and laugh and be amazed by all the things Sutton does!
8. I know I have learned that God is in control. It's amazing to think about all that has happened in the last year. Now, I just hope that I remember this lesson!
9. Now I consider "resting" to be laying down while I'm feeding Sutton. AND breastfeeding is HARD!!... but worth the effort!!!!!
10. I'm totally amazed at how much I LOVE Sutton and would do anything for him, and how much more I love Chris after watching him with Sutton.

I think every new mother should take time to reflect how motherhood has changed their lives. I totally agree with your #6. I was thinking about that today. I pick up the house at 7am, do laundry, put all the clothes away, and make sure the dishes are put away before Emma gets up at 10. The rest of the day is just maintaining :) We definitely have a good routine going. Sutton has grown so much...keep up the great work!
